Who skips the income test

- Families receiving TANF cash assistance
- Children in foster care or with an open protective-services case
- Families experiencing homelessness
The co-pay
No dollar fee chart is published here for this state. The Prenatal-to-3 Policy Roadmap 2025 reports copayments of up to 5% of family income — that is a maximum burden, not a typical fee. Confirm your exact copay on the state chart before you budget.
Fee scale: Aug 2025 (copay increase eff. Aug 1, 2025; PN3 cap 2025).
The gap: not confirmed for New Jersey
New Jersey's rule on charging above the state rate was not confirmed in the sources checked in October 2026.
Nationally, 40 states allow providers to bill families the difference above the state rate and 11 prohibit it (PN3, December 2025) — but the per-state list was not published in a form we could verify for New Jersey, so this page does not guess. Ask the agency before you sign.
State maximum for a full-time infant (birth–17 months) in a licensed center: $73.33/day (about $1,590/month), eff. Mar 1, 2025. Grow NJ Kids quality tiers pay more (up to $83.28/day at 5 stars).
The funding reality
New Jersey paused new CCAP enrollment from August 1, 2025 over a funding gap, and raised copays at the same time. Check ChildCareNJ for the current intake status before you plan around a start date.
